Your chance to own a piece of history! This US Coast Guard Motor Surf Boat was designed for rescue purposes, in heavy seas with high wave action. Originally, this type of vessel was used as the tender for the USS Eagle, and many other Coast Guard ships. Built in 1997, she is one of 50 commissioned by the Coast Guard.
The vessel is 26 feet in length with a narrow 7 foot beam across, which allows it to cut through the waves and be nimble for tight maneuvering. Designed to be unsinkable, constructed with a high-tech, vacuum bag hull, she has foam flotation throughout the entire hull, and six large four inch drains, which allow entire waves to pass through the boat easily.
Work completed Spring of 2106: Government surplus boat was completely stripped, primed, repainted topside with Interlux Perfection paint. Floor painted with Whisper Gray nonskid Awl Grip. Hull painted Sapphire Blue Brightside single part for easy touch up. Customized lower rubrail and spray rail added, along with custom built transom for mounted 12"x12" trim tabs.
2 independent biminis with connecting canvas to provide 100 percent coverage of deck or can be used separately. Handrails to 40" with custom removable canvas side panels for spray and sun protection, to meet Coast Guard requirements for passenger vessel. 7 new stainless 12" cleats and new bow pulpit.
New 6" custom upholstery with stacked fiber cushions, designed to get wet. Binnacle cover custom made.
The Cummins 4BT 3.9 liter 130 HP engine has new starter, idler pulley, belt, alternator, water pump, turbo, injection lines, injectors. 30 gallon stainless steel fuel tank. Great working condition, around 500 hours. 100 hours put on in last month post restoration. Front timing cover was removed and a tab placed over the dowel pin that possibly can rattle loose on these motors, as a preventative maintenance. At that time a new front timing seal was installed. Engine and transmission do not leak any fluids. Has Hurth transmission 1.5 to 1 ratio connected to 1 " shaft turning a 17" x 22" bronze 3 blade propeller. This boat has extremely rugged bronze support for keel and rudder, designed to be beached. Draft is 1' 10". C Star steering, industrial grade, rebuilt, works perfectly, does not leak.
New Garmin 44 DV GPS/bottom machine installed. Standard Horizon 25 watt VHF radio with 8' antenna newly installed, excellent range. Bluetooth stereo with 4 speakers, USB auxiliary input, all tinned wire. All stock gauges functional, including oil pressure, water temperature, transmission pressure, voltage, RPM. Horn also functional. 2 AGM batteries, 12 volt system. New LED navigation lights.
Originally had a single manual bilge pump, still in place. 2 separate pickups, one for the engine compartment, which is separated from the primary bilge. 2 electric 750 gallon pumps added, although no deck water reaches the bilge, as it all drains out the large scuppers, which double as footholds for boarding. There is also a ladder on the side for easy water access. Portable porta potty stows under stern seating, with pop up privacy enclosure for the ladies.
Galvanized dual axle trailer, new bearings, bunks and tires. Customized to fit the boat. Will haul anywhere.
Great boat, rides smooth, lots of fun. Using currently for dolphin cruises/water taxi, produces a great wake for surfing dolphins. Coast Guard rated for 16 passengers in emergency, and it is possible to get inspected, as we do have the drawings and was built to government standards. Selling to procure funds to upgrade to inspected vessel, will also consider trade or partial trade for vessel with current Coast Guard COI. Please call or e-mail with any questions or to come take a look.
